Medusa is a cooperative of producers and artistic, cultural and community broadcasters founded in 1993 around a large building project funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Ministry of Culture and Communication of Quebec, the Council of Arts and Letters Quebec, Quebec City, the Caisse d'économie solidaire Desjardins, Gaz Metro and the founding organizations.  

Based on the idea of ​​consolidating common services and expertise in the arts and culture, Medusa is recognized as a major center of production and dissemination of contemporary art in Canada. All member organizations offers from the foundation of the cooperative research areas and creating highly equipped, professional artistic services, the artistic residencies, training and dissemination activities including among others, exhibitions and screenings.

The cooperative has also set a goal to provide professional artists accessibility of spaces and professional arts facilities and jobs and to contribute concretely to improving socio-economic conditions and practice artists. The uniqueness of its management structure made of Medusa remarkable economic lever for Quebec City, its artists and cultural workers.
