What Is Life Like Here?

It’s the most common question we’re asked. Documentary filmmakers captured our residents’ answers.

Daily life might look different, but it isn't stopping friendships and connections. Filmmakers visited four HumanGood communities over seven days in the fall of 2020 so residents could share their stories.

Is Piedmont Gardens a Good Financial Fit?

Answer 7 simple questions and our easy-to-use calculator will assess which Piedmont Gardens independent living option might be a fit for you.

“There are two activities I’ve started doing since moving here that I never would have done otherwise. One is watercolors, which I do on a regular basis. The other is a residential band consisting of guitars, a banjo and a harmonica. We meet once a week to make music together and learn new songs. It’s a lot of fun!”

James Chuck

“I’m relatively new here, but I can already tell how great Piedmont Gardens is. I’ve met many other residents, all of which are extremely intelligent and enthusiastic. It’s a great atmosphere to live in. I love that I’m close to my family and Habitat for Humanity, where I volunteer two days a week. It’s also nice knowing I have a plan for any future care I may need. Staff, residents, security, location—it’s all outstanding.”

Cecile Burfeind

“I started looking ahead, and Piedmont Gardens made so much sense. We’re located right around the corner from Piedmont Avenue, and that was a big draw in case I ever decide to give up driving; everything I need is so close. And I’m always busy with something, whether it’s Current Issues Club, memoir writing, jewelry making or Resident Council. It’s a great group of people in a beautiful community.”

Nina King Luce

“Since moving here, I have plenty of choices for activities. There are a lot of things right here at the community, but there’s also so much to do on Piedmont Avenue just down the street. Best of all, I have a lot of time to volunteer at local hospitals, high schools and colleges, which I do about 30 hours per week. My advice to people is to move here before you need to so you can take advantage of all the great things to do.”

Cornell Maier

“As an author and musician, I appreciate the fact that my neighbors here have so many rich experiences to share—especially experiences related to music, art and literature. There are a lot of reasons to choose Piedmont Gardensthe amenities, the future security, the proximity to The Avenue. But the people are the most outstanding aspect of living here. They massage the soul!”
