Results that last: After having your LASIK surgery in our Long Island office and following the stabilization period (usually three months), the results of the treatment will be permanent.

Who is a good candidate for Laser Eye Surgery

Before undergoing LASIK, our Long Island eye surgeons will examine your eyes as well as ask you a few questions to see whether LASIK is for you.

The ideal candidates for the procedure are:

  • Eighteen years old or older: Younger patients still might experience changes in their vision.
  • Having a stable prescription
  • Good health: Certain conditions like diabetes may increase risks and complications.
  • Not pregnant: Pregnant women may also experience vision changes due to hormonal changes.

To see whether you’re a good candidate for LASIK eye surgery in NY, it’s always best to schedule a consultation with your eye surgeon first, so they can assess vision first and recommend the best course of action.

What Conditions can Laser Eye Surgery Treat

LASIK surgery corrects the shape of the cornea that’s mostly responsible for refractive errors, and enables the light to focus on the retina directly.

As such, the treatment can correct:

  • Astigmatism
  • Farsightedness
  • Nearsightedness

So whatever your refractive vision errors are, there’s an answer to them. After having LASIK eye surgery in Long Island, prepare to see the wonderful city of New York in a whole new light.

Meet Our LASIK
Surgeon – Dr. Stetson

Prior to joining Diamond Vision and becoming one of the most acclaimed LASIK surgeons, Dr. Stetson was Chief of Ophthalmology and Medical Director of the Air Force’s prestigious Air Force Academy Laser Eye Clinic. Under his guidance, the Air Force Academy Laser Eye Clinic achieved the best surgery results among the USAF’s six centers, and Dr. Stetson was officially recognized for superior customer satisfaction. Dr. Stetson was chosen to perform the very first Lasik procedure on a US Air Force active duty member, the four-star general in charge of US Space Command! Dr. Stetson’s work, as a vision doctor, with the general, was instrumental in changing Air Force regulations to allow Lasik surgeons to perform procedures on USAF active-duty personnel.

Born in Connecticut and raised in Upstate New York, Dr. Stetson graduated Cum Laude from Colgate University in New York and then earned an MD degree with honors at the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He distinguished himself again in residency at the Albany Medical Center, where he obtained the highest percentile in the Ophthalmology Knowledge Assessment Examinations.

Dr. Stetson has performed more than 50,000 refractive surgeries and has been on LASIK surgeons staff at Diamond Vision since 2004, before becoming Medical Director in 2006.
