Garvey Maceo High School (G.M.H.S) opened its doors on May 19, 1980. It was a gift from the government and people of Cuba and was fittingly named after one of our local national heroes, Marcus Garvey and Cuban revolutionary hero, Antonio Maceo. Originally built as a Comprehensive High School with its major focus on agriculture, the Garvey Maceo High School owns 90 acres of land and operates a commercial farm as well as a tutorial farm. However, the school engages students in both vocational and academic subject areas.The mission of Garvey Maceo High School is to produce and maintain a learning, working and recreational environment in which students and staff will be afforded the opportunity to strive to achieve their greatest potentials.
