Hi! Being a celebrant is one of the most rewarding things I have done in my life. I was urged by a friend to become a celebrant because she thought I was well suited for the role. And I think she was right! I absolutely love meeting people, learning about their journeys and being a part of special moments in their lives. I have lived in Newcastle for the majority of my life. I married a wonderful man 34 years ago and we have two beautiful children – a daughter Lauren and a son James - and my greatest pleasure as a celebrant was conducting each of their wedding ceremonies. My working career has morphed over the years from high school teaching,owning and operating several businesses, to managing not-for-profit organisations. A common thread throughout has been my interaction with a diverse range of people – CEOs and boards, students and parents, sponsors, customers, staff, peers, and the general public. It is because of this interaction that I have developed an insightful understanding and perceptiveness of people. I have also developed the necessary skills for business success - communication, organisation and work/life balance. Although I have achieved tertiary qualifications, the university of life has given and continues to give me invaluable lessons and resources that I apply to my work. Being a celebrant allows me to continue to learn and grow as a person, expanding my knowledge and my skills. It is one of those incredible jobs where you see and experience so much love and feel enormous pleasure and accomplishment. Whether you are planning your wedding, the naming of your child, committing yourselves to each other, renewing your vows or celebrating the life of a deceased loved one, there are always many things to consider. You may not have the time nor the resources to make these plans or you may simply wish to leave that to someone who knows and understands exactly what you need.
