Nic Franklin founded the company after discovering a lack of software options for his title and abstract company - Digital Abstract & Title (D.A.T.). The ownership group of D.A.T. wanted to put their data online where users anywhere in the world could easily access it, but the choices were limited and lacking in modern features.
