Jay and Melody Vachal, founders of Arise Home Health Care (AHHC), are two such people. In April of 2000, Jay, a respected local businessman, and Melody, a Speech/Language Pathologist specializing in early/special education, started Arise as a way to improve the personal care services available to their son Isaac who has Cerebral Palsy and is blind. About that same time, Melody became the primary caregiver for her father. In response to his care needs, AHHC created its Adult/Elder Care Division in order to provide in-home healthcare and living assistance for elderly, chronically ill or disabled people and their family caregivers. Jay has recently assisted in the transition of his aging parents from their home of 50 years to a setting where more assistance is available. The Vachal’s have earned their stripes as part of the “sandwich generation”. Today, AHHC, headquartered in St. Cloud, MN, has 165 caregivers providing services to St. Cloud and surrounding communities.
