we just finished work on a very difficult-to-diagnose problem with the heat pump in my mother's condo in scottsdale. this problem spanned several months from last summer until now. the hvac contractor from whom we purchased the trane heat pump several years ago and who held the service contract basically ghosted us after a few unsuccessful attempts to diagnose the problem. so, based on reviews we contacted hays to help us.
i have been so impressed with hays and josh, the technician who stuck with us over all these months. josh was professional, easy to communicate with, responsive, and trustworthy. i give hays credit for making josh available to us throughout this entire saga over probably a dozen service visits--it wasn't a parade of new technicians coming in with each service visit trying to figure things out from scratch. we definitely paid for attempted fixes that didn't end up working, but they were reasonable attempts and made in good faith. in the end, the way hays charged us was very fair; it's hard to believe they made much, if any, money on getting us a fix. in the end, it was josh working with trane who made the diagnosis and provided a durable fix. we also worked with a separate team from hays who did wiring work both inside and outside the condo. that team was also professional and did careful work.
we were in a very difficult situation, and it would have been easy for hays to throw up its arms and say we can't figure this out, leaving us to start over with another hvac contractor. but, they stuck with us, figured out the problem, and dealt with us fairly and professionally.

Called this company for a quote on a gas line extension to the kitchen, they scheduled a guy to come out within a day or two, which is the reason on an additional star. However, this the quote was a 10 hour job and the cost of labor is $360 an hour. A heart surgeon can justify charging that much, but I can't see myself or anyone wanting to pay that much for a plumber.

BEWARE: incompetence or fraud.
I payed Heys $125 to diagnose the problem with my AC when it just stopped working. After inspection the technician told me that my system is very low on freon and compressor doesn't work. He said that fixing it would cost close to $4,000 and it doesn't make sense to fix the older unit and advised on replacing it for more than $10,000. I decided to get a second opinion from a small mom and pop firm and it turns out all it was was burned high voltage fuse. It was replaced for $175 and AC is working like before blowing 52F air. The freon level is normal and compressor simply was not getting proper electricity it needed to work. So Heys technician is either completely incompetent and does not do basic (101) steps to diagnose a problem like measure if electricity is coming to compressor and unable to measure level of freon properly. Or he commits an intentional fraud lying about broken compressor and low freon to make you buy new AC from Heys. Either way you can't trust them. Hays was out today for our annual Heating and Air Inspection. Richard the technician was quite thorough and took his time to check everything. This was not a 5 min in and out inspection. Pictures of units internal and external sent also. I highly recommend Hays, we did call in past for emergency service and they came promptly and fixed the issue so recommend for as needed or maintenance.

Had a leak under the home foundation. They did fix the leak. Needed to replace all pipes into the attic.
When 'completed' I was quoted by another contractor 5K to fix all the walls they demolished.

This company was contracted by my Home Warranty company to repair my AC unit. They were scheduled to arrive 4 days later. On the day they were supposed to arrive, we got a call about 10 minutes from the outside time they were to arrive telling us they were running late - but will still show up. A half hour later, we got a call from our Home Warranty company telling us that Hays told THEM that they can't show up for another 3 days! EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! My Home Warranty company then contracted another AC company

I don't usually leave bad reviews but I was surprised by todays service. I was told over the phone there would be a $79 up front fee which would not be applied to service. That threw me off because most companies will apply it if you decide to use their service but I based my decision off the reviews and agreed anyways. After the tech looked at my unit he mentioned it is most likely a leak and it would be between 200-300 to identify the leak and mentioned that a rough estimate if I decided to fix the leak would be an additional 2,000-3,000! To top it off he said there was an additional $100 diagnostic fee which I was never told there would be a separate fee to diagnose aside from the $79. I guess the $79 just covers the gas to get to your home! Now I'm $179 short and not even certain if the issue was a leak or where the leak is at! Would never use this company again!

We could not be happier with our experience with Hays. They were extremely quick to reply and get us a tech to the house. Within 2 days they came out, quoted and fixed the issues we were having. Jason was our tech and he was kind, professional and really set us up for success.

We've had Hays come out to inspect/tune up our unit for a few years, and this time when their tech Jered came out he explained the condition of our aging unit and we elected to replace it. The arrangements were straightforward and the installation date was quickly scheduled. The installation techs Jordan and Dustin arrived at the designated time promptly, and worked efficiently with a professional end result. Our new unit is working very well. I am confident in recommending this company.

We have the service plan through Hay's and have been happy with it. Note, try not to have your summer service hit in July. We have been rescheduled for our biannual service several times due to summer ac emergencies. Well today we were the emergency. I had no issues calling for the repair on a Sunday. We had a 4-6 pm window for or tech and they called to see if we could move that up to 2, no problem. Idéal came out in the extreme heat and had us up and running. My upstairs was cooled down in time for bed.
