Showed up on time, and actually five minutes early.
They moved our stuff all day, including driving, and it came out to 1100 dollars.
While I thought that sounded expensive, I think for an entire day of moving time that is pretty fair. I was surprised it took that long but it also seemed like not having a fully accessible elevator just for us really slowed it down too.
I did take pictures of them leaving our stuff in the street, abandoned while they came back up for a trip. I didn't like that. When done at our new apartment, the lead called in our credit card number, loudly, on our porch, to the main office for processing, which seemed pretty tacky and not courteous in terms of protecting my privacy.
Overall the movers themselves were okay, price was okay, and time was okay- so, three out of five stars. They did however, wrap everything super duper well, so that was an unexpected plus.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jul 22, 2015
These guys worked their butts off on a hot gross weather to get me moved from Culver City to Glendale, and for that I am eternally grateful. They prepped and wrapped all my big stuff really well.
Two people were recommended based on a typical one bedroom, but apparently my apartment had two rooms full of stuff packed in, so it would have been more efficient to have 3 movers instead of two.
As a result of having so much stuff and not enough help, I went $200 over my moving budget.
So here are tips to expedite this process:
- Have everything packed and stacked and sealed in medium boxes before they arrive.
- Light things can go in Large boxes.
- Don't half ass the packing. Tape it all up so they don't have to.
- Have all the boxes all ready to be hauled out when they arrive.
- Separate fragile boxes and have them VERY CLEARLY MARKED OR COLOR CODED. While my boxes were marked fragile dishes, bubblewrapped and newspaper packed, some of my dishes were still broken. It was a real bummer to find and that's why I'm docking a star.
- Book them in the morning or whatever day aligns with having parking outside you apartment.
- 20 or more boxes? Book 3 people.
- Stairs? Book 3 people.
- Don't want to be guilt tripped every hour for having so much stuff? Book 3 people.
In the end, I spent around $800 for 7 hours of moving which includes the Yelp deal I bought. The double drive-time charge killed my budget since my move was 20 miles away and by the time my things were packed, it was prime traffic time. Keep in mind they're driving a big moving truck, so don't expect them to speed through traffic like a motorcycle.
So would I recommend them? Hell yeah, if you're moving local and the drive time is less than an hour, because they will work their asses off for you.
PS. Be a pal and have cold water and Monster Energy drinks (blue can) on deck. They will appreciate it.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 7Oh no 0 - 571333957Jun 15, 2015Purchased a Yelp Deal
Great experience from start to finish!
I called ABC because of Katie B.'s glowing review in 2013 and I can say that from my experience they are still a great company!
Nancy was very friendly and helpful on the phone when I called. She was great at calling back promptly, scheduling promptly, giving a reliable quote, and checking in and confirming before the move.
Then on moving day, I was told they'd come between 9 and 10am, and they arrived and started work promptly at 9:30. Shoh and Dima were quick and efficient. Nothing was dropped or damaged. They had my one bedroom bungalow full of stuff emptied, loaded, and unloaded in my new home by 2pm. Done! The charge of $90/hour cash ($100/hr credit) with a 3 hour minimum was more than fair! (So remember to tip these hard-working guys!)
I would definitely recommend and use ABC Moving Center again!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - May 18, 2015
Everything was good. Wrapped up everything very nicely. Damir was the leader. He was very friendly and nice. I don't think anything was damaged. They put up with my dog running all over the place too.
Edit:
I'm sorry, my conscience is killing me so I'm editing this review. I BARELY write five star reviews. This was initially five star because Damir was standing over me while forcing me to write a review. In general, I had no issues with their work. Everything I wrote above is true. The only two things I did not like was that they barely spoke English so communication was difficult and they forced me to write a five star yelp review in front of me at the end.Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Feb 22, 2015Purchased a Yelp Deal

Got tricked by this yelp rating. Just wanted to hire a good moving company to solve my problem but they actually caused more problems. This was my worst moving experience ever.
I was moving from Culver City to Pasadena.
I had marked everything with labels... color coded and stacking boxes together. They still moved the box one by one to the dolly. I stacked the boxes on purpose so they could just use the dolly to move the whole stack.... I couldn't understand why they wanted to waste their energy like this. Maybe they just wanted to waste my time/money. They wrapped my stuff slowly too... with pauses.... I guess they were not trained well so they had to think about what to do? My old apt has hardwood floor... but they were not careful at all. My ex-landlord was there watching the whole time but they scratches the floor like they didn't care. They even borrowed my landlord's shopping cart without asking. (hello... I paid you to do the work and why didn't u bring enough tools??)
After arriving my new place they didn't even read my labels. They just stacked all the boxes in my living room. I COLOR CODED them on purpose!!! If you can't read or understand basic English don't be a mover!!! After I asked them to read the labels, they ended up spending more time moving my boxes around again.
I was moving out from a "furnished" one bedroom apt meaning the only furniture I got were my desk and ottoman. Just ONE desk and ONE ottoman....THAT'S IT. I did have a lot of small stuff but most of them were in the boxes already. There were a few lose stuff that they had to wrap it before they move but there were not that many of lose items. But because of their stupid way of moving to waste their energy and my time.... they ended up spending "8 hours".... to move my stuff to my new 1 bedroom apt. (that's the time for people to move a whole house with furniture ok.... not 8 hrs for a 1 bedroom apt WITHOUT furniture.) The guy who can speak English.. his only excuse was " I hate elevator." I was like if you know the elevator is slow... that means you need to move stuff more efficiently ok! Don't just move two or three stuff for one trip!!!
It was a super long and frustrating time to watch them work. I was so mad and upset so I started taking photos during the moving process because I WILL complain for sure! After they left I went back to my old apt and you know what.... Because they were soooo slow and unprofessional ... they FORGOT two of my stuff in from of the elevator. After a long tiring day I couldn't believe what I saw. I paid "$900+tips" to two stupid movers who took 8 hrs to move and they left some stuff behind so I had to do it myself.
After I moved out my ex-landlord asked me to pay extra $ for refinishing her hardwood floor. FML.
So I got all of my photos ready and wrote a super long email telling them what happened. I got all of my evidences ready and I told them if they don't settle with me i will file a complaint to BBB. I am glad that they did settle with me. They gave me partial refund. ($500) That means I actually paid a regular price $400... to receive a crappy service and the whole moving experience and a week long negotiation about refund had made my life very difficult. Because I just started a new job around the same time too and it did affect my work performance. Partial refund couldn't cover the damage cost that my ex-landlord charge me and also my valuable time emailing and talking to them on the phone. I WILL NOT USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.Helpful 53Thanks 0Love this 31Oh no 0 - Mandee B.Sun Valley, CA63153Feb 19, 2015
Moving is pretty stressful no matter how you do it. My husband and I decided this time we were going to hire movers to help keep the stress off our plates. Boy, were we glad we did! We had Garth, Baja and Leif. They are kind, fast and efficient.
We moved from a two bedroom apartment to a house. They worked tirelessly and handled every aspect of the move. We packed everything and they moved it. They came in like a hurricane and grabbed everything. They had boxed for this and ways to carry that. They wrapped all our furniture and made sure and already existing damage was noted.
They are upfront about their insurance policy. As an awesome bonus they don't charge double drive time if the two locations are closer than 15 miles. Every other moving company I called charged it no matter what.
I would use these guys again in a heart beat.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sammy G.Los Angeles, CA1409Feb 10, 2015Updated review
Dennis, Max, Valentin, and Yurie were great.
Super fast, extremely professional, and crazy-strong! They pulled off a feat that we didn't think could be done - literally hoisting a 600 pound plus antique armoire up and over a flight of stairs and an iron banister to get it into our 100 year old house.
They left a lot of plastic wrap on our items but that wasn't a big deal (just annoying to have to find scissors and cut off of furniture). And some furniture and boxes were put in the truck upside down - just be specific with your items and watch how they are being placed on the truck. We still highly recommend using these movers and will use them again.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Feb 8, 2015Previous reviewDennis, Max, Valentin, and Yurie are AHH-MAZING!!! I. Kid. You. Not.

Yup, I've moved from behind the Orange curtain to Los Angeles. I guess I was in denial since I put booking a moving company off till I woke up in the middle of the night with a panic attack. I called that very morning, about a week before the big move and they easily accommodated me.
We moved from a large three bedroom townhouse to a large one bedroom apartment. Having a stellar waterfront view will make this an easy decision for most people.
The guys showed up a few minutes early and were ready to go. They worked hard, fast and took great care in wrapping all of our furniture. Off to a great start! We had two stops - a storage unit and then all the way to Marina del Rey. The entire move took somewhere around 10 hours (driving time included). The contract was well laid out with no hidden charges. In hindsight, they probably should have sent three guys and not two. Otherwise, things went very smoothly and there was nothing broken in the move.
Next time I move (hopefully not for a very long time), I will give these guys my business.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aug 25, 2014
ABC Moving Center was terrific in helping move all of the materials out in a timely fashion and professional in their demeanor.
The call was made to ABC Moving Center a week before and they arrived promptly at the apartment. They quickly wrapped up everything and moved all our boxes to the truck (we had mostly everything ready to go so it wasn't too bad taking the boxes). The move from Central LA to the Downtown area was very quick and easy as well. They were also very efficient in moving everything out to the new apartment and were very careful. Even with the stairs, they knew what they were doing and worked together well in moving everything in with barely a scratch. No complaints for sure and definitely could see how hard they were working to make sure the customer was happy. The workers were very happy and didn't show any attitude as well.
Again, appreciated all their help and their professionalism in moving! Great stuff.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 29, 2013Purchased a Yelp Deal
Surge is a genie. I called on a Thursday late afternoon and wished for a last-minute emergency move and he had two men on my doorstop at 8am on Friday. I paid a $60 deposit and then $85 per hour with a 3-hour minimum ($95/hr with a card) for 2 capable movers and a truck. They came on time and although I wasn't there for the actual move, I received a text from a friend that was helping at 10:30am saying all was done and that Vlad and Elmir were efficient and wonderful (Vlad even went the extra mile and fixed a wobbly jewelry/vanity dresser), granted they didn't have a ton to move but when you just don't want to deal with the logistical headache of moving the big stuff or finding a friend who owes you a favor that also owns a truck, just rub your ABC Moving genie bottle and use a wish. The wish will cost you $205 total (using the Yelp Deal).
Surge did a follow up call with my friend to make sure everything went according to plan. Top notch service, I tell you!Helpful 45Thanks 0Love this 35Oh no 0
