My experienced with the Portmore Health Centre located on 10-12 Henderson Drive, Independence City have left me flabbergasted with the health care system and how they deal with crisis situations. A group of men were at the door with a young adult in their hand saying he passed out while playing ball, they were pleading with the two nurses standing on the other side of the glass, begging please for them to let him in and help him. One of the female nurses walked to the room where the doctor was in and told the doctor someone is outside and he passed out. The doctor never even got out of the room to try to assess the situation and offer any help, the nurse came back out of the doctor’s office went to the door and said take him to the hospital. By this time the boy started foaming at the mouth and his peers were hysterical pleading please help him he’s going to die. One of the female nurses said to the head nurse don’t open the door because they’re going to barge in, then the head nurse proceeded to tell the boys through the glass once again take him to the hospital we can’t see him. Two other female patients and myself started to voice our opinion about them not offering any type of help, and where is the humanity. After the realizing they weren’t getting any help they placed him back in the car and drove off assiduously to try and get him the help he so desperately needed. I walked back to the nurse desk and sat down for her to finish the process with sheer disgust at how they handled the situation whilst praying for Gods protection to spear his life and guide them safely as they drove. The nurse came back and took the thermometer from my arm and it now said 38. She exclaimed “your temperature is high the doctor will not see you!” I responded to say “what are you saying? I have been sitting in here for over 1 hour, you had me in a hot room and then placed me directly under the Air Conditioning vent and now you’re telling me I can’t see the doctor because my temperature went up from 36-38, so what if I go home and drop down dead from this pounding headache that I am having?” the nurse looked at me and said the doctor cannot see you and walked away. Exasperated with the lack of care and concern for human life, Infuriated by the blatant disregard and disrespect, disgusted with the entire customer service, I took a deep breathe, walked to the front desk, requested my health card and told them to discard my file in the garbage and walked out. I am honestly disheartened about the entire situation, and I decided to share my experience because I know many may be going through or have been through something similar with the healthcare system. These nurses and doctors need better training to deal with the sick and the helpless. Who are we as human beings if we ignore the sufferings of others? I wish I could give you zero or no stars because you don't deserve any.
