Description

Voltage Converters are more appropriate for appliances with a simple resistive heating element and no electronic controls. However, some manufacturers of Flat Irons recommend against using ANY Voltage Converters with their products. If a Voltage Converter MUST be used, a better option is this model from Magellan. This will automatically select the proper conversion method, so the user doesn't have to worry about choosing the correct method, or forgetting to change a switch.

Voltage Converter 110V to 220V Company is a leader among voltage converter manufacturer. Our main focus is creating the highest quality products. Voltage Converter 110V to 220V Company is an United States voltage converter maker located in Los Angeles. Our company concentrates on voltage converter design and voltage converter manufacture. The main products are voltage converter 110v to 220v, voltage converter 220v to 110v, step up voltage converter, step down voltage converter and so on.

It all depends on the wattage of unit- it is always best to try to use a converter that is rated 3 times more wattage that the 220 unit. For example: if units wattage is 500 get a 1500 or 2000 watt converter and so forth. That's not always possible. But I would at least try to get double. I use converters all the time for gas coffee roasters that have wattage up to 1000 or more. I use a 3000 watt converter for those. There comes a point where the converter costs more than a dedicated 220v outlet. At that point the outlet could make more sense.

The voltage adapters are bulky and heavy and expensive. They convert the US standard of 120 volts to UK/euro standard of 240 volts. Before investing, make sure you really need one. For each appliance you plan to bring, look for a switch to set the voltage: 120V or 240V (hairdryers, shavers, etc.). If such a switch exists, set it to 240V in UK/Europe and you should be fine. If your appliance has an AC adapter (iPod, digital camera, laptop, etc.) look at the label in the adapter. If the "input" label says something like "100-240V" then it does the conversion automatically and you don't need a voltage adapter for this appliance.

The world runs on two types of electricity: 110/125V or 220/240V. North American devices run on 110/125V electricity while the majority of the world runs on 220/240V. Converters and transformers change the voltage of electricity to match the voltage of your device.

Travel voltage converters are not designed for continuous use as oppose to the larger transformer which can be used continuously. Travel voltage converters also have very small capacity and usually range from 30W to 200W max. The 1600W or 1875W travel voltage converter is not an actual voltage transformer, it is designed specifically for heat producing (purely resistive) items only such a hair dryer, irons, heating pads, etc.. Do NOT use 1600W or 1875W setting of a travel voltage converter with electronic items or any items with electronic circuitry or chipset.

Your device should say the range of voltage it can handle. This should be on a sticker or on the plug or device itself. Some devices are internationally compliant and can handle the voltage (my iPhone charger is fine to use without a converter). Others WILL NOT and you will need to purchase a converter or use a different device. (Kinda’s Chi straightener actually started smoking in Wales and was destroyed. She now travels with a tiny straightener that is made to handle both voltages).

We've selected some of the best voltage converters below. But if you're not sure what type of voltage converter or adapter you need - this handy Voltage Converter Guide explains all about international plug adapers and travel voltage converters.

A voltage converter is an electric power conversion device which is used to change the electrical output of a power source. The most common use for these converters is to change the voltage from 220 volts down to 110 volts, or from 110 volts up to 220 volts. When an electronic device, appliance or power tool was built for a specific voltage which is not available, the only way the device can be used is by converting the power up or down to the correct level. The need for a voltage converter often arises for people who travel abroad or take overseas vacations and bring electronics along with them.
